We’ve been hearing for a while now that Amazon might be going up on the price of their Prime membership, and now the rumors are true. Although, It was a bigger increase in other countries, here in the US we are only seeing a $20 change, which still makes Amazon Prime a great deal, especially if you order a lot of stuff from Amazon like I do.
Amazon Prime has some great features like free two-day shipping or next day shipping for just $3.99 which is a great price, and I use it a ton. Additionally, you get Amazon Prime Instant Video, which Amazon says they have over 40,000 movies and TV episodes. There’s also a selection of over 500,000 books that you can borrow from the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library.
For those that haven’t signed up for Amazon Prime yet, you can do so here. And if you sign up within the next week you’ll get the current $79 price tag, otherwise it’ll go up to $99. For those that have a student account, you’ll see a price increase from $40/year to $49/year. Which in that case it more than pays for itself as long as you buy a few items from Amazon each year. Obviously I have a Student account, so it’s still pretty cheap for me. But upping it to $99 each year still isn’t that bad. That’s less than $10/month.
