If you’ve ever been to a Buffalo Wild Wings(and maybe this is just me at my local spot) you know it can be terribly difficult to get the attention of the wait staff to get refills on.. well pretty much anything. This might be in part a reflection of the skills or attentiveness of the wait staff, but the place is almost always extremely busy as well. The point is, it can be almost impossible to get things that you may want or need to continue enjoying your meal. How is Buffalo Wild Wings looking to attack this problem? With an idea that has multiple uses, i’m talking about incorporating tablets into the seating tables, so you can not only place orders for more food, drinks, etc., but also play games and do other various activities at your table.
First of all, as a gamer this somewhat appeals to me. Anything that has to do with games can catch my attention even if only for a few moments. More importantly though, the ease of being able to place an order for more wings, or more drinks, or whatever else one might need or want when going to Buffalo Wild Wings, is a testament to the fact that this particular establishment is making attempts to give better service and also engage the customer even more. Each and every Buffalo Wild Wings is already outfitted with loads of giant flat screen TV’s and projectors with screens, but sometimes what might be on just doesn’t appeal to everybody. What better way to keep customers in the restaurant longer by providing them with an opportunity to stay engaged, so they can enjoy themselves more and spend more money.
Buffalo Wild Wings reportedly did a test run of this idea in a pilot program, which went well to say the least. This has led them to the decision to make it so that every single table in every one of their restaurants has a tablet integrated with the table. The whole entire refresh with the tablets is expected to be incorporated by the end of 2015, so this may take a while, and we have a feeling they’ll probably start to incorporate the tablets in more popular locations with busier traffic first, then roll them outwards to the other restaurants. As for the tablets themselves, they’re apparently 7-inch tablets manufactured by Samsung, and they run on a OS platform called BEOND. This seems to be some forked version of Android as you can see the Android navigation buttons at the bottom of the screen in the video, but regardless of that, it sounds like you can do just about anything with these tablets. As we stated above, you can request to order more food and drinks with them as well as play games, but you can even pay the bill and request to change a channel on any one of their TVs to something more to your liking. It all sounds interesting, and while I don’t frequent Buffalo Wild Wings myself, I would surely go back to test these things out. http://youtu.be/Jx11APMxfTk
