Many of you have probably used Google’s URL shortener before. You can access it in any browser by going to goo.gl. It’s a pretty simple URL shortener, but then again that’s really all you need. The app will have you login with your Google account, and it will sync all your links with your account. So you’ll have access to other short links you’ve made with the service previously. You can also get analytics on other URLs through the app, which is a great feature, especially if you’re trying to see how many clicks one of your links got.
With the app, it’s pretty easy to shorten an URL and share it with any app in on your device. Or you can simply just go old-school and use the copy/paste feature, which is what I’d probably use more often. The app is really slick and uses Google’s great looking card UI. It’s also optimized for 7-inch and 10-inch tablets as well. Which it’s nice to see Google setting the example for tablet designs. As they’ve been trying to get a lot of developers to get their app ready for tablet layouts, and have had little success.
Some of the other features of the app include the ability to star your favorite short URLs, it has feature rich notifications, as well as being able to access your data offline, which is a bit strange since you can’t really visit any links without an internet connection and analytic information wouldn’t be up to date without an internet connection as well.
The cards on the app will show you the original link as well as the shortened link. It also has a star for your favorite links, as well as showing when your link was created and how many clicks it’s received, which is nice to have.
It’s a great app to have on your phone, especially if you share links a lot. It’s free on the Play Store, so go ahead and visit the Play Store now and check it out.
