Within the past 24 hours, Google has really expanded their offerings in some countries. They brought Chromecast, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 over to a host of new countries last night and this morning. Now we’re hearing that the Acer C720 Chromebook is also available from Google Play in a few more countries. Those countries are Canada, Germany, France and the United Kingdom. The Acer C720 is the base-model that has 2GB of RAM. So if you’re looking for the model with 4GB of RAM or a touchscreen, you’ll have to check out other retailers like Amazon. Google is selling the Acer C720 Chromebook for just £199. Which is about what it costs here in the US, so not a bad price at all. If you haven’t already read our review on the Acer C720, I suggest you do so.
The Acer C720 also comes with a 16GB Solid-State Drive, which is replaceable. There’s also an 11.6-inch 1366×768 display, and an Intel Celeron processor which is built on the Haswell architecture. Which to me is the best part of the Acer C720 Chromebook, the battery life. Thanks to Haswell, the battery life on the Acer C720 is amazing. While I was reviewing it, I was able to get around 8-9 hours of battery life, which is pretty insane. And just about no other laptop comes close to that, besides Apple’s Macbook Air and Macbook Pro which are rated at 12 hours and 9 hours respectively.
Before you buy the Acer C720, it’s important that you know what a Chromebook is. It’s basically a laptop that only runs Chrome. So if you can do all your tasks in Chrome, then the Acer C720 is a great laptop/Chromebook, but it probably won’t replace your main laptop or desktop. But it’s a nice addition to your setup.
If you’re in the US and you haven’t grabbed an Acer C720 Chromebook yet, I don’t know what you’re waiting on, but you can check out all of the Acer C720 Chromebooks on Amazon here.
