Google Updates Wallet App To Track Packages For Online Orders

Google Wallet has just gotten an update today that is actually rather quite handy. Similar to the way that Google Now will track your packages if the order sends information to your gmail account, a new feature added to Google Wallet in the update today will allow you to track the order of  stuff you buy online when using your Google Wallet as the payment method. The new feature is appropriately called Orders, and will be rolling out to users throughout the rest of the week. Not only will you be able to track you orders for online purchases, but you can track your past orders as well.

The new Orders feature also lets you keep track of the status updates with the notifications about online orders feeding right into your status bar. Honestly, ordering stuff online using Google Wallet couldn’t be any easier now that this tracking system feature has been set up. It will certainly be convincing me to use Google Wallet for more of my online purchases going forward. If you’re running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or later, you should be seeing this update pop up in your status bar sometime today, tomorrow or the next few days if you already have Google Wallet installed. If you don’t use Google Wallet currently and want to start, you can download Google Wallet from the link G+ post(which is linked below)and grab the install for your device, to be ready for the update once it hits.

Some unfortunate things to note about this update to Google Wallet is that this is a U.S. only rollout for now. If you live outside the U.S. you’ll still have to rely on the package tracking information that you could receive through Google Now by way of ordering stuff using your gmail, which honestly isn’t that bad of a thing since the Google Now package tracking works pretty great. Up until this Wallet update, I have been using Google Now personally to track any packages for orders of stuff I had bought online and I have no complaints. The feature works flawlessly and the information is easy to get to. Stay tuned for the update on your own device and let us know what think about this new feature.
