The official launch of the All New HTC One (M8) is just a few short hours away, and HTC has been letting the leaks flow out with such a force, as if the dam holding them back has already burst. We have already seen almost everything there is to see regarding the device; however the most exciting news has just come to us. Google and Motorola had were one of the first who had shown what Android is really capable of, when they had leveraged Android’s modularity successfully. For the uninitiated, Android is coded with the basic premise of modularity – so basically everything in Android is a module in itself – be it the launcher, the boot animation or any individual app including the camera app. Motorola and Google have released the stock apps in the Play Store which can be updated by the end-user without having to wait for an OTA firmware update. On similar lines, we have news that HTC has released the Sense BlinkFeed Launcher and the HTC Service Pack apps on the Google Play Store. It seems that there has been a strategy change at HTC and they would now follow in the footsteps of Motorola and Google, so we can safely assume that HTC users would get core app updates without waiting indefinitely for firmware OTA updates. However, currently both these apps are incompatible with the older HTC One (M7), which could either mean that we would not be seeing these apps on the older device or it could be that these are compatible with the Sense 6.0 version only. It may also be that HTC is restricting the app downloads until after the All New HTC One (M8) launch.
