LG has had quite the interesting lineup of phones recently, with their contributions to the Nexus 5 along with their native LG G line. It looks as if LG is going to keep on impressing us, as with the upcoming update to Android 4.4 KitKat, it seems as if they will be unlocking the potential of their LG G Flex‘s 13MP camera and give it the ability to record in 4K resolution. The User Agent Profile reveals to us that in the current version of the G Flex’s software, the capability for 4K recording is present, it is simply disabled. The update removes this block, allowing for all you LG G Flex owners out there to record in 4K glory, once you get the update.
To me, 4K video capture is not a huge deal. I barely use my phone for photos or videos as is, but for those of you who are very into taking the perfect video, I imagine this update will be quite helpful. Hopefully with the update we do not see a lot of connectivity issues like some users are facing with the Moto G. If you are not familiar with the LG G Flex, the phone sports a 6-inch 720p POLED Curved display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.3GHz, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 13MP shooter on the back with a 2MP front-facing shooter, 3500mAh battery and Android 4.2.2. What this means is the 4K recording, while fine and dandy, will not do much of anything for those of you who like to watch videos on the phone proper. Unless you have a screen with a high enough resolution, this update will unfortunately not do much for you in the land of audio-visual recording. Overall, the phone is still a quality device, and the update to 4.4 KitKat will only improve the quality of it. I am interested to see how the updates roll out and just how much better they make the already impressive 6-inch behemoth. Are you a proud owner of a LG G Flex?
