LG announced the G Pro 2 last month and now, it looks as though the company is gearing up for their international rollout of the device. Unlike Samsung, LG likes to rollout steadily throughout the globe, which might sound like a bad idea, but it does help them cater to their key markets and better meet demand. For a company like LG, based in South Korea just like Samsung, Asia is obviously a priority for the company, and they’re beginning their rollout of the device in the Asia region starting today. Of course, the device already went up for sale in South Korea at launch, but now other nations will be able to get their hands on the G Pro 2.
There’s nothing concrete from LG concerning pricing or firm release dates just yet, but in a Press Release today, the company detailed the countries that would be seeing the phone launch very soon. Those countries include Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia which is a decent portion of the Asian region and should bring in a decent number of sales for LG. If you’re unfamiliar with the G Pro 2, it’s a 5.9-inch device that features a Snapdragon 800 CPU, 3GB of RAM, a 1920 x 1080 display and a 13-megapixel camera with OIS. A decent device throughout, LG have gone to town on software here, launching with Android 4.4.2 KitKat and a new feature called Knock Code, which essentially allows you to “knock” a pattern to unlock your device. Other software features are similar to that of the LG G Flex and the G2 that debuted last year.
With the Asia rollout underway, we can hope to see the G Pro 2 reach more countries around the globe, including the US. We saw the Optimus G Pro, the G Pro 2’s predecessor, launch on AT&T here and it was a capable device, this year we’re hoping LG gives more than just customers of ma bell’s a chance to own the G Pro 2.
