With the HTC One M8 officially announced and launched, we’re hearing a lot about the new flagship’s build quality. The HTC One M8 is made out of aluminum, and has the speakers on the front of the phone, which is a very unique, yet simple way of solving sound quality issues. Because the One M8 and the original HTC One have had such a good response in the build department, it’s no wonder people are already drawing up concepts of an HTC designed Nexus 6.
It’s been a while since HTC got to build a Nexus. HTC hasn’t manufactured a Nexus device since the Nexus One back in 2010, so it would be interesting to see what they end up doing with a Nexus in 2014. It appears as though most manufacturers are opting for Google Play Editions, rather than Nexus devices. However, we know that Nexus rumor season is quickly coming up on us, so why not have a little fun with concepts?
This particular concept comes from Aleksandar Tasik. According to the concept, it is designed by HTC. The overall build appears to be similar to the original HTC One. You get the front facing dual speakers, and the more square form factor. The screen is pretty much edge to edge, and there is only one camera on the back. We also see a picture of the wallpaper and something that looks very similar to active display. While concepts are sometimes very far fetched and extremely futuristic, this one doesn’t appear to be too crazy. Everything in this concept is something that a manufacturer like HTC could create. However, I’m not so sure about active display being integrated into a future Nexus, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
Some current rumors state that LG might actually be manufacturing the next Nexus device, and that it will be a “lightweight” version of the G3. Nexus devices are usually announced between October and November, so we’ll probably be hearing more rumors as the year goes by. If that rumor is true, then that will mean that LG will have manufactured the last three Nexus devices. What manufacturer are you rooting for to design the next Nexus device?
