Description: Kablocks is a puzzle game that aims to shake free a lot of the traditional tropes associated with puzzlers and aims to motivate players, rather than punish them for not reaching the right goals or the highest levels. With over 120 puzzles, no timers, no scoreboards and no missions, Kablocks is a game that pits yourself against yourself. There’s not only a lot of puzzles on offer, but the general overall concept is one of quality, not quantity. Kablocks might not be the traditional idea of a puzzle game for most, and that’s because it isn’t. You might find it simple on the surface, but it’s much harder than you think and we’re sure that it’ll give most players some scratchy heads. Take a look at the YouTube video for more.
How it Works: Kablocks is a quick download away from the Play Store. While there’s no free version of the app, the game itself doesn’t feature any in-app purchases and the small price gets you all of the puzzles to play right away.+
Your first port of call should be “How to Play”, which will take you through the basics.
There’s a fair bit to remember here, as Kablocks isn’t all that simple a game to pickup.
Once you think you have what it takes, you can choose from a variety of different types of puzzle. These vary in difficulty, and each has their own sort of quirks.
Things start off fairly easily, but there’s still quite a bit of a challenge here.
As you progress through the levels, things will change a little, and new rules will be introduced.
Things get fairly complicated as you head on to the later levels.
Opinion: I’m still not sure how to play Kablocks properly, and I find it incredibly difficult. You know what though? That’s just fine. It’s been a long time since I was genuinely challenged by a game, mobile or otherwise. For that, Kablocks gains my respect. It’s a puzzle game that doesn’t back the player into a corner, which is perhaps why it’s so difficult. There’s no need to rush against the clock, there’s no limit of moves and there’s no need to reach a certain score. It’s almost like a digital version of Chess, only you’re playing against yourself. It’s a fun game, and I’m actually pleased that this charges a small price to be rid of ads and in-app purchases, it certainly has the right level of spit and polish to justify that price. Besides, 120+ puzzles is enough to keep even the best puzzle game players occupied.

Conclusion: If you’re a fan of puzzle games, and you’re looking for a fresh challenge, then Kablocks is the game to try out. It might be a little confusing at first, and it might be even a little too difficult for a lot of players, but it’s a great challenge. Often, the difficulty in these games comes from a shrinking time limit, or the computer keeping an eye on your move count. With Kablocks however, you get the breathing room you need to make the right decisions and complete the levels properly in a clean and easy manner. Its upfront cost isn’t too steep and puzzle fans all over should be more than willing to give it a go.
