Sponsored Review: A Look at Fast Apps for Facebook

Description: Team2soft have developed a line of Facebook apps for Android dubbed Fast, these apps are designed to make your Facebook experience obviously quicker, but to fit in better with Android and make things on the whole, more enjoyable. Designed with both tablets and smartphones in mind, the Fast apps for Facebook are perfect for those habitual Facebookers that simply use the social network to keep in touch with their family and friends. Here, we’re going to take a look at the Fast apps and see what they can offer you. There are three Fast Facebook apps, the main app, Fast for Facebook, Fast Facebook Messenger and Fast Notifications for Facebook. All of these come together – or they can be used separately – in order to deliver what team2soft believe to be a better Android experience. Read on to see if they’re right.

How it Works: All of the Fast apps can be downloaded from the Play Store. Each one of them obviously does different things, they work well together, but you can install one, two or all of them if you like. Starting with the Fast app for Facebook, we can see our news feed and such just as we normally would and it looks really quite good on tablets.

One of the more interesting features here is the ability to choose your theme and customize how the app looks and feels.

Fast for Facebook looks good on tablets and smartphones alike, and thanks to the Holo theming, it fits in better with Android than the official offering. Some of the theme colors aren’t all that great, but there’s a lot of choice and even a fully custom option, better than the boring blue from Mr Zuckerburg! If you like this, then you would also like the Fast for Facebook Pro Version, as it comes with all the same features but is completely AD free.

Moving on to the Fast Messenger app, the same values continue. With a clean Holo look that suits Android a little better, it works just fine.

The Fast Messenger app also includes some very attractive widgets that show your online friends and more, such as status updates. A nice feature for big Facebook users.

Last but not least, is the Fast Notifications app, which is fairly explanatory and does pretty much what you think it does. As these apps are designed to be used together, to use the Notifications app, you need to have Fast for Facebook installed.

Essentially, this is an app that funnels your Facebook notifications, which sounds pretty useless. However, the main draw of this, is the ability to control just what you’re told about, which is again a real boon for heavy Facebookers.

Opinion: I’ll be honest here, I’m not that big a Facebook user and I haven’t been since I left school. The main reason for this is perhaps the app and how poor it has been on Android. Sure, it’s gotten a lot better, but there really isn’t too much here to write home about, but with the Fast apps for Facebook however, everything fits in with Android a lot better and there’s another app that works well with tablets. Tablets are often ignored by Facebook and other big developers on Android, so it’s nice to see something on that front here. The apps aren’t perfect however, and there are a few cracks here and there, but for the most part these are very good alternatives especially if the default app is niggling away at you.

Ratings

  • Speed (4/5) – With the name being “Fast”, you’ll be glad to hear that’s exactly what they are.
  • Features (5/5) – There’s a lot of functionality in these apps and everything works great with Android, delivering a better experience on the whole.
  • Theme (4/5) – Some of the themes in Fast for Facebook are a little iffy, but you can always choose a custom made one, which is more than the default app that’s for sure.
  • Overall (4/5) – With lots of functionality, customizability and good-looking themes these are all great alternatives for us Android users.

Pros

  • Easy sign-in available if you ave the default Facebook app installed, simple setup overall.
  • Good theme options available to make the app feel like your own.
  • Messenger app is a nice alternative that fits in better with Android.
  • Fast Notifications are great to control just what you want to be alerted of.

Cons

  • Ads can be quite distracting on tablets.
  • Fast Messenger app could feel just like a duplicated app.

Conclusion: If you’re looking for an alternative to the default Facebook app, then these Fast Facebook apps are a great place to look, especially if you’re used to using it on a tablet. When using a tablet, the Facebook website still doesn’t cut it and they change the code so often it’s difficult to know if it’s going to work one day. The messenger app here is also quite good and there’s really not much to complain about here, with the ability to customize the theme and some great widgets on offer, there’s a lot to love here. Team2soft is more than happy to hear from your Feedback and you can find them on Facebook, Twitter and Google+!
