And the KitKat updates continue to roll out. While OTA’s still aren’t as fast as iOS, they have certainly improved a lot from a year ago and even two years ago. Just about every manufacturer has pushed out a KitKat update for their flagship device. With the latest being for the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4. The update is about 387MB in size and is build M919UVUFNB4. It is Android 4.4.2 and it brings all of the features from KitKat you’d expect with this update.
This update brings KitKat along with some improved stability, new camera shortcut on the lock screen, and an improved on-screen keyboard. To upgrade, you will need to be running on Android 4.3 build M919 UVUEMK2, which was the latest OTA until today. The update should be rolling out now to just about everyone on T-Mobile starting today, it’s likely a staged rollout so you may have to sit tight for a few days if you can’t pull it down by going to Settings > About Phone > Check for Software Updates.
Now we are just waiting on the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 KitKat updates for AT&T and Verizon, as they are both available on Sprint and T-Mobile. Which is normal. Usually Sprint and T-Mobile are first to release updates to their devices, which is great to see, especially since they are #3 and #4 respectively in the wireless industry. Hopefully it won’t be too long for those on AT&T and Verizon, as I know they are patiently or impatiently waiting on their update.
If you’re on T-Mobile and have gotten the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on your Galaxy S4, be sure to let us know in the comments below how the update is working out for you. You know bugs, and other issues. This will help others decide whether they should accept the OTA or not.
