For what feels like an age, the OnePlus One has been teased and hinted at in promotional materials and we’re still around three weeks away from the device’s official launch. While OnePlus is taking a swing at everyone, like HTC, we’ve yet to see what their One will bring to the table. There’s a lot we do know about the OnePlus One already of course, like the fact it’s going to be a 5.5-inch device with a quad-core Snapdragon and that’ll be running a version of the popular CyanogenMod Custom ROM. We know a lot about the internals of the OnePlus One, but the software of the device has remained something of a mystery, until now.
Engadget has managed to get their hands on a couple of screenshots of the device’s software and they both hint that the OnePlus One will be running a slightly modified version of CyanogenMod. The lockscreen looks to be very different and could be one of the firm’s ways to make the device stand out from others, but the settings screen shows a more stock Android look and feel. The settings screen also shows that Android 4.4.2 KitKat is going to be running on the device at launch. Engadget have learnt that the version of CyanogenMod is going to be referred to as “11s”, which is probably to indicate OnePlus’ customizations on the device.
The OnePlus One is still a device holding a number of cards close to its chest, and considering this is a device that’s going to cost under $400, there are a few things that we can’t wait to get cleared up. Just how much customization OnePlus have done to CyanogenMod remains to be seen, but we doubt that the custom ROM has lost its identity in the process, especially as the company is practically using CM as a selling point.
