If you are addicted to coffee like I am then this may by the App for you if your addiction is for Tom Horton’s coffee…and who isn’t? I live in the U.S. so I am a Starbucks user – I’m like a junkie that needs to have that fix to make it through the day. However, my brother-in-law and myself love Tim Horton’s coffee in the bag or the can…and the few times a year that my wife and I go to Erie, PA – we stock up on Tim Hortons coffee and enjoy the shops they have scattered about. Unfortunately, so far they have not made it down to the Pittsburgh area other than at our Consol Energy Center where our beloved Pittsburgh Penguins play!
The new Tim’s Time App came out first for iOS devices and is now available for our Android devices running Android 3.0 or higher, so most of us should not have a problem downloading the App from Google Play – CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD – and stop those long waits in line to get your coffee. This App works on ‘crowdsourced data’ and its goal is to “avoid frustrating long line-ups” at your favorite Tim Hortons.
Users must open the App and put in the length of time it took them to get their cup of coffee, and while this will help everybody else out, you have to wonder if users will take the time to enter their time. Hopefully, the Tim Horton crowd feels like a ‘family’ and will want to help each other so the next time they look at the App, the information will be accurate. To encourage users to post their wait times, every time you make an entry you will collect “Tim’s Coins” and be entered into weekly their drawings. The App will show a coffee cup in different colors to alert you to your upcoming wait, or perhaps you can choose another Tim Hortons shop close by to save time. If the is No Wait to three minutes, the cup is Green – a five to ten minute wait will drive the cup to Yellow – and a wait of ten minutes or more, the cup will turn Red.
A Saskatchewan-based company, Qjumprz Solutions developed the App and claim they have 4,200 Tim Hortons store in its database, so chances are pretty good that your favorite watering hole will be available for you to check out the wait. One nice addition to the next upgrade would be the ability to differentiate between walk-in and drive-thru wait times.
