Xiamoi is poised to be offering a brand new smartphone device soon, but it isn’t quite what you might expect. Some might think the Red Rice 2 would be the next device in line to receive the release treatment, but instead Xaiomi is looking to apparently release a phablet type device called the Note. Wonder where they got that name from? The device could see two different models available, one for the Chinese market, and one likely for other regions around the globe where it could potentially release. The Hongmi Note will be what the device is called in the Chinese market where Xaiomi is based.
The Hongmi Note will be Xaiomi’s first phablet device the company has ever offered, and it actually comes with some fairly good specs, but with one notable factor, it will apparently come with an extremely low price tag for what the consumer will be getting. There will actually be two different options available to choose from when Xaiomi launches this device, one that could be considered a high-end Hongmi Note and one we’ll just refer to as a lower end Note, just for sake of separating the two individually. To start, the high-end version of the Hongmi Note will feature better specs and a higher price as well, but neither version will cost an arm and a leg. Specs for the high-end model will be a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with a resolution measured at 720p, and will have a 13MP camera on the back with LED flash, and the capability to record video at full 1080p. It’ll also come with a 5Mp camera on the front for video chat/selfie purposes(just in case you need to go on a Snapchat binge) with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of storage with expandable options through microSD, and an octa-core processor courtesy of MediaTek,.(The MT6592 to be more accurate)Battery wise it’ll house a 3,200 mAh battery, run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Miui ROM version 5.
The lower end version of the Hongmi Note will carry a slightly less powerful octa-core processor, only 1GB of RAM, with virtually everything else being the same. The more expensive version of the Note will cost 999 yuan or around $161 USD, with the less expensive version costing 799 yuan which is around $128 USD. Those are some surprising specs for those prices, especially when compared to other phones that are priced similarly. The phone is expected to go on sale in China on March 26th which is just around the corner, so hopefully we’ll see this in other countries not too long after.
