Amazon's Fire TV Game Controller Must Be Popular – Backordered through May 11th

Just last week, Amazon announced the Fire TV, which is their own set-top box and it even has a matching game controller to go with it. Which is actually sold separately and costs $40. Now the game controller may sound expensive, but it actually isn’t. Comparing it to other game controllers out there, it’s actually pretty cheap. Most others are at least $50 or more. If you bought the Fire TV and the game controller together, it would set you back about $140, which isn’t a bad price considering everything you’re getting. But it appears that now Amazon hasn’t been able to keep up with demand of their new game controller as it is backordered until May 11th. That’s a pretty long time, about a month. While Amazon may be pulling a Google here and will be shipping out these back ordered controllers before May 11th, it’s still backordered, and that may be a good thing for Amazon. As it means that people are interested in the game aspect of Fire TV.

Amazon has taken the set-top box that Google, Apple and Roku have attempted at, and have made it even better. The Fire TV does movies and TV Shows as you’d expect, but it also does games. Which the Fire TV launched with a  bunch  of games compatible with the system from the likes of Gameloft and 2K sports, but there are also many more in the making that are coming soon. In fact, Amazon has their own game studio now which are making games exclusively for the Fire TV. They even have their own version of Halo, which I know will get a lot of people to buy it.

From what I understand, you can use other controllers with the Fire TV, so if you have the MOGA, or Nyko controllers, those should work just fine. But if you want Amazon’s you’ll be in for quite a wait.
