For those that are unaware, BLU is a company in Florida that makes some pretty cheap smartphones. We’ve reviewed a good number of their devices in the past. Including the Life Pure, and the Life Pure Mini. their devices are normally under $300, and vary in size and specs. This time they are announcing the BLU Studio 6.0 HD which has a 6-inch display, as hinted at in the name. BLU is also selling it for $250. Which is pretty amazing for that price. So before we get to the specs, remember that this is a $250, unlocked device. So it’s not going to compete with the Galaxy S5 or the HTC One M8.
As far as specs go, the BLU Studio 6.0 HD sports a 6-inch 1280×720 resolution display, a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot for up to 64GB. It also has a 8MP camera on the back, and a 2MP front-facing shooter. As far as wireless goes, GSM Quad-Band (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900; HSDPA 850 / 1900 or HSDPA 850 / 2100); Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0. So still no LTE, but we do have HSPA+, and for those on T-Mobile it does support the HSPA+ 42mbps network. So you’ll still get plenty of speed on the Studio 6.0 HD. It’s also running Android 4.2.2 with a 3000mAh battery inside. All that for $250.
Now I know the specs don’t sound all that amazing, but remember the price tag. This is going to be a good phone for your parents. As they don’t need a smartphone with all the bells and whistles, like the Galaxy S5 or the HTC One M8. But just something that can deliver their email, text messages and phone calls. Which is exactly what this phone is capable of. Although I’d love to see it have 8GB or 16GB of storage inside. But 4GB is still doable.
The BLU Studio 6.0 HD will be available next month from Amazon.
