This morning, Facebook updated their Messenger app to version 5.0. It doesn’t bring in a set of new visual changes as you’d expect with this version, since it’s the big 5.0, but instead we get some nice new features like better photo and video sharing, along with sticker shortcuts. Photo sharing is now much quicker, which is always a nice thing to have. This update does bring it in-line with the iOS version, which always seems to be slightly ahead of Android, unfortunately. As far as video sharing goes, you can share them from your gallery app – or if you have Dropbox and Google Drive on your smartphone or tablet, you can share using that as well – you can also play the videos from within the app now, which is a nice change. You’ll just need to be running Android 4.3 – Jelly Bean or higher to do so.
Instant photo sharing means that you can now take a picture from within the app and share it with everyone in that conversation. The new stickers shortcuts are cool too. If you are sent a sticker that you don’t already have, you can hold it to download the entire sticker pack. Pretty easy enough, right? Additionally, Facebook has also sped up Search in version 5.0 of the Facebook Messenger. So we should see some pretty big improvements just about everywhere in the app now. While these may not seem like huge improvements, they are still ones that are nice to have. Especially for those that use Facebook Messenger all day long to contact various people.
Facebook Messenger v5.0 is now available in the Play Store and is still free of course. So if you’re interested in checking out what Facebook has done with the app, feel free to download it. The Google Play Store link is in the source link down below, for those interested. How many of you still use Facebook Messenger as your primary messaging app?
