As stated by Google, they have started notifying people who had opted to submit applications for a spot to attend the annual Google I/O event coming up at the end of June after the lottery ended, and as part of that they have begun charging the lottery winners for the ticket fees starting today. The Google I/O lottery began last week promptly on April 15th after a delay from the initial start that was supposed to happen at the beginning of the month. The time came and went as the lottery only lasted through the end of day on April 18th, making it a short window of time to get your submissions in, but plenty of time within those three days if you had already planned to apply for a lottery ticket to go to the event.
As per the policy, the charges have started to hit people’s Google Wallet accounts for the respective charges, which were $900 for developers and other attendees, or $300 for students that will be attending the show. The event is scheduled to take place at the memorable Moscone West in San Francisco where Google has held past events, on June 25th and June 26th. It’s still up in the air what Google could be planning for the big keynote speech once the event begins, but rumors are floating around that we might see something to do with Android Wear, Google Glass or even a new Android build. New devices and new versions of Android are always on the speculation list, but whatever ends up the primary focus of the keynote is likely to be exciting with all the new stuff in wearables this year.
