We’ve been hearing about this app for quite a while. It was in limited closed beta for a while and now it’s available on the Play Store for everyone. It appears that instead Update Wednesday, Google is giving us New App Wednesday, which I’m perfectly fine with as well. The Chrome Remote Desktop app allows you to simply use remote desktop to access your computer from your Android-powered smartphone or tablet. This also includes Chromebooks. Here’s the full description from the Play Store:
Securely access your computers from your Android device.
– On each of your computers, set up remote access using the Chrome Remote Desktop app from Chrome Web Store: https://chrome.google.com/remotedesktop
– On your Android device, open the app and tap on any of your online computers to connect.

So you’ll need to download the Chrome Remote Desktop app from the Chrome web store to be able to use Chrome Remote Desktop, and you’ll only be able to access Chrome on your computer. But it’s still pretty amazing to have remote desktop capability on a smartphone, especially one from Google. We’ve had remote desktop apps already, for quite some time and now we’re seeing one from Google, which some may think is a bit more stable or usable because it is from Google.
Chrome Remote Desktop is available in the Google Play Store right now, we’ve got the link down below for those interested. It requires Android 4.0 and above and is only about 2.1MB in size, so it’s a pretty small app.Which is nice, especially for those with smaller storage in their devices, like a low-end phone from LG or Samsung.
