Finally, the HTC DROID DNA is getting it’s KitKat update. This was the last DROID device made by HTC for Verizon and their last exclusive for Verizon. The DROID DNA was the first device to hit the US with a 1080p display, and at the time, we thought it was overkill on a 5-inch device. Well look at us now.
Those of you with the HTC DROID DNA still will be happy to know that the device has begun receiving Android 4.4.2 this morning. With the update, you are also getting bumped up to Sense 5.5. The update is fairly large, as expected. So you’ll want to be sure that you are connected to Wifi before attempting to download this update. Additionally, it brings a bunch of bug fixes – which is normal with OTAs. It also brings Blinkfeed and all kinds of other Sense 5.5 features. It also brings it up to par with the HTC One (M7), HTC One Mini, and the HTC One Max. Even if it doesn’t have the same hardware. The update should begin to rollout today and hit all the HTC DROID DNA devices out there over the next few weeks.
For those of you interested in grabbing the update as soon as possible. You can go ahead and jump into Settings > About Phone > System Updates and tap on Check for Updates. You may not be able to grab the update right away, but it should be on the way to everyone with the DROID DNA. You’ll want to be sure your phone is either plugged in, or has at least 50% charge left before applying the update, but most of you probably already know that at this point.
While it’s been a tough road for HTC and the DROID DNA. Still nice to see it getting the update to Android 4.4.2. And getting it before some other devices, and it’s coming up on two years old now. Definitely nice to see around here. How many of you are still sporting the HTC DROID DNA on Verizon Wireless?
