HTC's Ford Davidson also Leaving the Company

Earlier today we heard that HTC was losing their Senior Vice President of Design. Although he’ll still be around as an advisor to the manufacturer. Now we’re hearing that Ford Davidson who is a senior director at HTC, is also headed out the door. Like we’ve said before, change isn’t always bad, sometimes it’s good, and we’re hoping for the same with HTC and these recent changes. Davidson joined HTC about three years ago when his company was acquired by HTC, that company was Dashwire. Now that he’s leaving HTC, he’s planning on starting up a new startup, or at least contemplating it. With the Dashwire acquisition, HTC was able to create their getting started tool which is great for new users who don’t want to re-setup their device each time they upgrade. This is an important tool to HTC and to its customers. But it appears that Davidson thinks the software team will do well without him there.

“HTC recently launched the new HTC One m8, which is amazing, and our team on the software/service experience side, is rocking, so timing is good for me to get back to entrepreneurship.”

This is all part of HTC simplifying their internal chain. We’ve seen quite a few people leave HTC lately, and some others getting promotions. This could be both good or bad. We’re hoping that it’s good news, at least for now. As we’d hate to see another OEM leave the market after Blackberry did earlier this year. Although that was pretty much expected. We don’t expect HTC to go away anytime soon, but they definitely need to pick it up and gain some momentum and some market share though.

How many of you are surprised to see Ford Davidson leaving HTC today? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
