Huawei is the world’s largest multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and services company, headquartered out of China. Thanks to a large China market and emerging markets they are quickly becoming a mobile player as well, but they desperately want to expand into a global powerhouse in mobile devices, and this includes the U.S. We have heard about their Ascend line of devices for a while now – Ascend D2, Ascend Mate and the Ascend P6 – and at the beginning of this month revealed that the new Ascend P7 will be officially announced in a Paris event this May 7, along with a ‘mini’ version of the same smartphone.
Huawei has just released a short video that teases about the Ascend P7 and the Paris announcement – but that is all it is…just like a high school girl wearing a lot of makeup to attract your attention, very little is actually revealed. This video is more like a walk through Paris, with Ascend P7’s used as ‘dominos’ that reveals very little about the device itself, but it does confirm that the phone will be announced this May 7 in Paris. There is also talk of a Ascend P7 mini also going on sale at the same time, so it looks like Huawei will be giving the consumer a choice.
We expect the Ascend P7 to be more of a flagship device rather than following the Ascend P6 which was a solid mid-range performer. The new P7 will arrive with a 5-inch Full HD display with 1920×1080 resolution, a Kirin 910T quad-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage via a microSD card slot, powered by a 2460mAh battery. The main camera will be a 13MP shooter and what is interesting is that it will pack an 8MP front facing camera (ffc) for what can only be described as excellent video chats and the opportunity for the best selfies around. The Ascend P7 will also include LTE connectivity and come out of the box with Android 4.4 KitKat.
Hopefully, the Ascend P7 will be the device that Huawei needs to break into that flagship market – please let us know on our Google+ Page if you would be interested in the Ascend series of smartphones from Huawei…as always, we would love to hear from you.
