Yesterday, it was confirmed by LG that they would be launching the LG G3 in the next two months. Then this morning, we got an invite for their event on May 27th. Which all but confirms that they are announcing the LG G3 that day. Which means we will be seeing loads of rumors, and leaks and everything else about the LG G3, not that we haven’t already seen a ton of them. Earlier today, we reported that the LG D855 – what we believe to be a LG G3 variant – was certified in Indonesia. Now we’re getting word that the device has entered mass production and that the sales goal is set at 10 million.
This is coming out of a report from LG’s homeland, Korea, that the device has already entered mass production. Which sounds about right, given the fact that LG is looking to announce this device in about four weeks time. What’s a little bit strange though – at least to me – is the goal they’ve set for sales. While 10 million is definitely a big number, with the way analysts have been hyping up 2014 for LG, you’d think their goal would be closer to 50 million units sold. And with the success of the LG G2 last year, I think the 10 million mark will be easy to achieve for the Korean OEM.
From the rumors we’ve seen already, we’re looking at the LG G3 sporting a 2560×1440 resolution display, 2GB or 3GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB storage choices, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801/805 processors, Android 4.4 KitKat and likely an even bigger battery. Not that the LG G3 really needs it anyways. It’s also supposed to sport a 13-megapixel camera on the back, although I think it’ll be closer to 16-megapixel. Especially if they want to compete with their neighbor Samsung.
Anyone else waiting for LG to announce the LG G3 before they upgrade? I know I’m one of them. Let us know in the comments below.
