It appears that LG has just submitted a couple new tablets to the FCC that might be brand new versions of the G Pad. For comparison, the G Pad has the model number V500, while these new tablets appear to be listed as and referred to as the V700, and the V400. So far there aren’t many details about the tablets other than the fact that they’re Dual-Band Wifi only tablets that appear to have no Bluetooth or cell network support. The lack of support for cell networks we get but no Bluetooth support is weird, so perhaps if the lack of Bluetooth in these tablets is in fact the way LG intends them to be, then we might be looking at lower cost or budget tablets as opposed to something more high end. The speculation is also that these low cost tablet devices could also come running Android 4.4. out of the box.
Although we don’t have much else in terms of specs or features, the source that has rumored the Android kit kat build for this device has also said that the tablet will come with a 5MP rear facing camera, and a 1MP front facing camera, only seeking to further suggest that this tablet could be on the low price range bracket compared to the LG G Pad 8.3. The other tablet that was discovered is called the V400, and also being equipped with WiFi support only, instead seems to sport a 3MP rear facing camera and the same 1MP front facing camera, making it the lower cost of the two most likely. There is speculation that the V700 could be a larger version of the G Pad coming with a 10.1-inch display, and that the V400 could round out the trio with a 7-inch display, but given the lack of Bluetooth and lower quality cameras, we’re guessing that both new tablets will have smaller displays than the G Pad 8.3 and be priced in the budget margin.
While these are apparently just being submitted to the FCC, more details are sure to come light in the future so as we learn more we’ll be sure to update you on our findings. Could LG be trying to enter into the tablet market with a couple low cost devices that rival the price of the Nexus 7?
