LG’s G3 is has long been rumored to be heading to the market and we’re sure that it’ll continue to be rumored for some time yet. Most recently, we saw what could be the packaging for the G3 leak out and now, we’re hearing more about the build of the device and a mockup of the device has been leaked.W’re expecting the G3 to launch later this year in June or July, but we’re hearing more and more about the device every day.
Thanks to Hungarian Blog, Nixanbal, some more details surrounding the device have appeared. According to their source – who has seen the device (and presumably where this mockup has come from) – the G3 will follow in the foot steps of the G2 and feature a Polycarbonate build, but opt for smooth matte plastic, as oppose to the glossy plastic from last year’s model. It looks like LG’s G3 might end up looking like their recent devices headed for market in Japan, which also means thinner bezels.
The display is what most people will be watching LG’s next move for, and according to the source, it’s impressive not only due to the high resolution of 2560 x 1440, but also its size. With a display that keeps on sounding more like a 5.5-inch panel than anything else, it’d be of no surprise to us that LG will be shrinking down the bezels to deliver a device not much bigger than the Galaxy S5, which features a 5.1-inch display. Having such a dense display will obviously deliver incredibly sharp text, but we’re also sure that LG will have a display with excellent color reproduction.
As for the processor at the beating heart of the G3, all signs are pointing to a Snapdragon 801, but we’re thinking that LG will do as they did with the G2 and use the latest processor from Qualcomm. This year, that’d be the Snapdragon 805 which is a bigger step up from the 800 than the 801. As always though, these are just rumors at this point, and the G3 could end up being something else altogether.
