Moto E Specs Leak Out , An Even Cheaper Moto G

Earlier this week, some specs leaked out for a new Motorola smartphone. It appeared to be an even cheaper offering from Motorola, than the Moto G. Now we have a name for this device, along with some more specs. The name we are looking at is the Moto E. It’s said to have a 4.2-inch 720p display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor (likely the Snapdragon 200 from Qualcomm). Along with 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a 5MP camera on the back and a 1900mAh battery inside. It’s also likely to have Android 4.4.2 at launch, as the Moto G and Moto X already have that update. It’ll be pretty thin at just 6.2mm thin, compared to the 11.6mm of the Moto G.

The Moto E is expected to launch in South America and then reach other countries from there. Motorola is current;y pretty large in South America, especially in countries like Brazil and Mexico. The Moto G was also launched in South America, Brazil to be specific. The Moto G has been Motorola’s most popular smartphone of all time, and it’s a cheap smartphone, which is pretty crazy. But you also have to remember that Motorola typically did exclusives. Like the DROID, Atrix and Photon line up of devices for Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint respectively. The Moto G was their first smartphone to be available for multiple carriers and in most of the world. It’s great to see the sub-$200 Moto G doing well.

While these specs aren’t all that enticing to most of us. If Motorola can sell this device for under $150, or even under $100, I think they’ll have another success under their belts. As the market for those that just want a smartphone that works, is actually pretty big. A lot of people don’t need all the bells and whistles of the HTC One, or the LG G2 or the Samsung Galaxy S5. But something that can make calls, text and get internet access. And the Moto E will do just that.
