The Official Reddit Android App Is Coming According To New Job Listing

Ahh reddit. That wonderful and crazy place where users of the internet can go to find many an interesting thing. Reddit is home to many things big and small. Tons of hilarious posts, images, and memes, some things you can browse in the presence of your family others are labeled as NSFW. Yes anything under the sun has probably found a spot on reddit. As Android users we have plenty of access to these things, what we don’t have is an official reddit app that allows us an open doorway to the weird an wonderful, and sometimes otherwise a bit scary making you wonder why you either can’t stop staring or why you even looked in the first place. Sure there are some third party reddit apps, and some of them arguably very good. My personal favorites are BaconReader, and the one I’m currently using right now called reddit is fun.

This may soon change as a job listing on reddit confirms that an official reddit Android app is in the works and will be on its way to the Play Store for users. Do you upvote or downvote this idea? Whether you already have your roots planted in another app or not, an official reddit app might bring something to the table that we don’t already have. I’m not sure what that would be as some the already available options seem to offer everything, but if anything it might bring a more interactive and/or attractive UI that wins over users. Whatever this new app comes out to be, one thing is for certain, reddit is going mobile and their focus is on providing users great content through mobile apps and clean design. That right there tells us that they’re looking to make the UI eye pleasing, and perhaps in line with the current design guidelines for apps, and perhaps taking on the whole holo themed look.

The listing for the job doesn’t give much detail on what we can really expect from the app itself, however it does give us a good idea that the team at reddit wants to leave us with an app we can be proud of using. The job requirements list that they’re looking for someone with Android experience, so the app is happening and is just a matter of when. If you think you’re someone that has the skills and knowhow to bring the team over at reddit the goods, you can hit the link below to jump to the job listing and apply. The team at reddit sounds like a cool bunch. The name of the user at reddit who posted the job listing(taxidermyunicornhead)should be able to tell you all you need to know about what kind of cool, fun people you’ll be working with should you get the job.
