It’s never to early to hype beast a new smartphone right? This time we’re looking at a report about the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy Note 5. Yep, we don’t even have the Galaxy Note 4 announced yet and we have rumors for the Galaxy Note 5. We’ve been hearing for a while that Samsung was working on some flexible displays, in fact they kind of put one in the Galaxy Round last year, that never made it out of Korea. Between Samsung and LG, these two OEMs have been working on flexible displays for a few years now, and competing to see who’d be first. Now there are reports floating around that Samsung is building a new factory or plant to manufacture these flexible displays. It’s known as the A3 plant and should open later this year. Which means it won’t be available for the Galaxy Note 4, but perhaps for the Galaxy Note 5. As well as the Galaxy S6.
Up until now, Samsung had been delaying investments in this plant, which is only for flexible displays. But that has changed recently. Now with their competitors looking to work on flexible displays, Samsung has decided to invest in the A3 plant again and get it up to speed for manufacturing flexible displays. Obviously, it’ll take a few months to get this factory up to speed, so we’re looking at it being available in the fall to make displays for upcoming devices.
Other sources are stating that Samsung needs this factory up and running as soon as possible as both their flagships in 2015 are going to have flexible displays. Which means they need to get start manufacturing them pretty soon. Since those are both very popular devices for Samsung. It’ll be interesting to see how the flexible displays work on the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy Note 5 next year. We’ve already seen plenty of concepts and even patents about them.
