Samsung Galaxy S5 "Camera Failed" Bug Plaguing Other Carrier Variants

Earlier this week, we had heard that the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 was having some issues with the camera, and giving out a “Camera Failed” error on their devices. Which many people have had to exchange their device for a new one. Now we’re hearing reports that other carrier variants are being affected, in particular the Sprint version of the Galaxy S5. We’re hearing from various users both in our inbox and over on XDA that the Sprint Galaxy S5 is having issues with the camera. However it appears to not be affecting all Sprint variants. As my review unit is a Sprint version and I haven’t had any issues with the device as far as the camera goes.

So far there’s no fix available for this bug on many Galaxy S5’s at this point, but I’m sure Samsung is working on it even though they haven’t stated that they are just yet. It’s great that the Galaxy S5 has an amazing camera, but if it’s failing, then what’s the point of it? This could cost Samsung quite a bit of sales, which is something they definitely don’t want, especially if they want to remain at number one.

Like I stated above, that not all Sprint versions are experiencing this issue, and T-Mobile’s Galaxy S5 is having no problem either. We haven’t heard anything about the AT&T version either at this point. Hopefully Samsung will get this fixed ASAP so that everyone can have fun with this new camera on the Galaxy S5, as it is absolutely amazing. Which is what we expect from Samsung.

Are any of our readers having issues with the camera on their Galaxy S5? If you are, be sure to leave a comment down below and also state which variant of the Galaxy S5 you have so we can see what other variants are experiencing this bug.

Update: Samsung has stated that they are aware of the issue and is working on a fix for the “Warning: Camera Failed” bug on the Galaxy S5. Verizon is also issuing replacements for affected devices.

“Samsung is committed to providing the best experience for customers. We have learned that a limited number of Galaxy S 5 devices may have an issue that causes “Camera Failure” pop-up error message. We ask that customers affected call 1-888-987-4357 or visit their carrier for service under Samsung’s standard limited warranty.”
