Samsung Galaxy S5 "Prime" G906S Shows up on Samsung's Support Site

We’ve been hearing about this “Prime” version of the Galaxy S5 for quite some time now. It’s supposedly going to feature a 2560×1440 resolution display, to rival the OPPO Find 7 which was announced about a month ago. The folks over at Sammobile have found what they believe is the Galaxy S5 Prime model number, which is the G906S. This model number has shown up on Samsung’s Find my Mobile service, and is listed as a Galaxy S5. Which right now it’s not one of the models being sold. Which leads us to believe it’s a new variant, that could even be announced tomorrow in Singapore.

The G906S has shown up in benchmarks before, and is even more beastly than the Galaxy S5. It’s supposedly sporting a 2560×1440 resolution display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a 16MP camera are on board, according to those benchmarks. It’s sounding a lot like the G906S is the device we had hoped the Galaxy S5 was going to be. Many of us were underwhelmed with the Galaxy S5, as far as the hardware and even the software goes. Not to say that it’s not a high-end device, it definitely is, but we didn’t really expect them to drop back down to 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

Samsung is holding an event in Singapore tomorrow, which points to a successor to the Galaxy S4 Zoom. Since the name of the event is “Kapture the moment”, but I wouldn’t put it past Sammy to announce a few other devices, as they always do. So we could see the G906S tomorrow, we may not. Just keep that in mind. But do remember that we will be covering the event as we always do, so make sure you stay tuned to Android Headlines for everything.
