'Sign in With Google' Button to Replace Google+ Sign-In?

With the recent departure of Google+’s head, Vic Gundotra, has come a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Google’s social network, with some going so far as to say that the network is dead. Here at Android Headlines, we love Google+, and our Editors and Writers are often chatting away with our readers or sharing stuff of our own. However, it’s become clear that Google+ might not be the hot ticket that we all think it is, and word is that Google is thinking hard about what’s to happen to the social network. We sincerely doubt that Google will be getting rid of the service, as they’ve invested too much in the service and millions of people use it everyday; pissing off that many users is never a good idea.

In a report by The Verge, it looks like Google might be getting rid of Google+ sign-in, or at least how it looks on websites. A “Sign in With Google” button has been discovered by a number of web developers and such across the web and the appearance of it is very different to the Google+ Sign-In a lot of us are familiar with. What does this mean? Does it mean that Google is getting rid of Google+? We very much doubt that, in fact it’s more likely that if a change to this new Sign In with Google were to happen, it’d be to appeal to users that aren’t involved with Google+. No matter how much Google tries, not everyone wants to become part of Google+, and that’s okay.

When browsing the web, Google+ isn’t going to be immediately familiar with everyday users, but Google is. Which is why this move might be undertaken in the future, but as usual, Google has said that “we are always testing things” so there’s a possibility that this might never amount to anything more than a simple experiment. Whatever happens however, we doubt that Google will be shuttering Google+.
