Sony teased us with the Xperia Z2 tablet back in February but never made a commitment as to when it could actually be purchase in Canada. The big question has finally been answered – while you can actually pre-order it right now, it will not be available to pick up until May 5. According to Sony’s website, the 16GB model is selling for $529.99 and the 32GB model will cost you $599.99. The Xperia Z2 Tablet will be available in both black and white.
The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is a real powerhouse and I cannot wait to see this device in ‘person.’ The 10.1-inch IPS display has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and features Sony’s TRILUMINOS display for mobile, featuring their Live Color LED. The processing power is from a Qualcomm APQ8074AB quad-core clocked at 2.3GHz with 3GB of RAM. The 16GB or 32GB internal storage can be increased via a microSD Card for up to 128GB of additional memory.
The primary camera is 8.1 Megapixels with Exmor RS for mobile and a front-facing camera of 2.2 MP for video chatting and selfies. Power is from a 6000mAh battery allowing up to 1420 hours of standby, up to 200 hours of listening to music and up to 13 hours of video playback – all through front stereo speakers with Dynamic Sound. It measures 266 x 172 x 6.4 mm and weighs in at 426 grams – making it one of the thinnest tablets in the world. It is running Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and is waterproof and dust resistant (IP55 & IP58). You can even order one of Sony’s Smartphone Attachable Cameras for the Xperia Z2 tablet if you really want to take some awesome pictures – lenses on sale for $199 and $499.99.
