I reviewed the Ultimate Ears Boom speakers late last year, as well as the Mini Boom, and loved both sets of Bluetooth speakers. At the time, I felt like they were the best Bluetooth speakers around. The battery life was pretty insane as well, but that was until Fugoo put out their Bluetooth speaker capable of 40 hours of playback. Which I’m currently trying to kill so I can review it. Today Ultimate Ears – which is part of Logitech – has announced a new update to the UE Boom speakers which makes Double Up even better.
For those that don’t know about Double Up, it’s a feature where you can connect two UE Boom speakers together and have them connected to the same device. It used to be a bit difficult to get them both to connect each time. But now, with the latest update it’s much easier. Simply pair them together once and they’ll stay together forever. As long as they are both powered on, of course. Ultimate Ears tells us that there is an On/Off button in the settings so you can turn off this feature or not as you so choose.
The app is free in the Play Store and the App Store for Android and iOS respectively. The UE Boom is going for around $200 each right now on Amazon. Which if you are willing to spend $400, you’re definitely going to love the experience you’ll get with the UE Boom speakers. Also the UE Boom Mini speakers can also double up, with it’s own Android and iOS app. So far there’s no word on this update affecting that app, but I’m sure Ultimate Ears will add that functionality to the UE Boom Mini in the near future.
How many of you have been looking for a good Bluetooth speaker? There are plenty of them out there, and the UE Boom is one of my personal favorites. How many of you own the UE Boom? Let us know in the comments below.
