Xiaomi Tablet Leaks Out; Looks to be Same Size as iPad Mini

Xiaomi has been creating quality smartphones for some time now and as is so often the case with Android manufacturers, we’re waiting to see when the Chinese giant will be introducing an Android tablet of their own. We’ve heard a number of rumors surrounding a MiPad or something similar and now, some leaked images of the device in a pre-production state have leaked out. Only the back panel can be seen in these leaked images, but the shape looks similar to the 4:3 aspect of Apple’s iPad Mini and according to leaks, such a tablet won’t be using the sort of processor you might expect.

As you can see in the gallery below, these leaked images are of the back panel of a Xiaomi tablet and the Chinese giant’s logo can be clearly seen on the rear of these back panels. There’s not too much that we can see in these images, aside from cutouts for speakers and for a rear-facing camera. Looking like a plastic built tablet, Xiaomi’s slate might be a lot more affordable than other similar tablets. The 7-inch form-factor is said to house a Snapdragon 400, which would of course give the device a lower price tag and has sparked rumor that Xiaomi will be available in two different versions, a premium version as well as more affordable one.

The Snapdragon 400 will allow the MiPad (or whatever this thing is going to be called) to utilize 4G LTE, which could help Xiaomi stand out from their competitors. It’s beginning to look like it’s only a matter of time before we see Xiaomi release and sell an Android of their own. No doubt fueled by the recent hiring of Hugo Barra from Google, a key figure behind the successful Nexus 7 tablet from the search giant, Xiaomi is offering more and more products, and is slowly but surely moving into international markets.
