Acer might not be known as a smartphone brand like Samsung or HTC are, but they’re slowly becoming a name to pay attention to, and today in Taiwan the company is announcing some more smartphones, with a little something for everyone. A trio of smartphones, the E600, E700 and Z200 have been announced at Computex 2014, which doesn’t officially open its doors until Monday, and they each have something a little different.
We’ll start with the E600 (pictured above) and the E700, which both share the same DNA, running Android 4.4 KitKat with 5-inch HD IPS displays and 8-megapixel rear-facing cameras. Both devices support 4G LTE and while we don’t have specifics on CPU or RAM just yet, we’re assuming Snapdragon CPUs and 1GB of RAM for each of these devices. The E700 is aimed at those looking to get all day and beyond out of their smartphone with a 3,500 mAh battery, while still maintaining a 9.9mm thick frame. This duo of devices is aimed at mid-range buyers and should be fairly affordable.
The Acer Z200 is a more affordable device with a 4-inch 800 x 480, which has dual-SIM support running a dual-core MediaTek CPU, a 1,300 mAh battery and 512MB of RAM. This isn’t meant to be the most inspiring smartphone out there, but it will be cheap, possibly coming in even below the Moto E and Moto G. It only features a 2-megapixel rear-facing camera, which is pretty uninspiring. All of these new devices from Acer have DTS technology for excellent sound as well as a one-touch button, dubbed the AcerRAPID, on the rear of the device to launch certain aspects of the phone nice and quickly, like the dialler or something similar.
