Today, Adenda is announcing a “first-of-its-kind” software development kit (SDK) that will allow the user to place any app of their lock screen, and actually view or use the app while the lock screen is still active. According to their advertising blitz, the Adenda toolset will include: a lock screen component for ANY Android app – A utility that will even include advertising (either a one-time full-page media notification or native content displayed on the lock screen) – the content is dynamically and autonomously modified without having to pass through Adenda servers – and even options to reward users with virtual goods for enabling your app on their lock screen. Adenda CEO Francis Doumet said:
“Today we are announcing an app that we think will change everything. By unlocking the Android lock screen for developers, we are providing new opportunities for monetization and user engagement. Mobile developers don’t have to wait for the user to return to their app for engagement, which can take several hours, days or even weeks. They can continuously connect with their audience right on their Android’s lock screen and draw them back to their app sooner with incentives.”
Adenda points out that the lock screen is the smartphone’s most “valuable real estate,” yet it generally sits there with nothing but a stagnant image showing. Why not take that barren wasteland and turn it into an asset – for both the user and the third-party developer. They estimate that a user will look at their lock screen 40-100 times a day, and that is a lot of opportunities for customer engagement. Adenda allows that application developer complete control over what they display and when to display their content.
It may take a user hours, days, or even weeks to return to a particular app, limiting the time of user ‘engagement.’ With Adenda, you can be continuously connected with your audience every time the user looks at their lock screen – and you can even be a little persuasive by offering the user an incentive. If users opt into your app for their lock screen content, they can swipe left to follow the action and interact with the content, whether that’s opening the app, seeing an ad, playing a game or watching a video, or they can swipe right to unlock it to home as usual.
So with Adenda, the Application Developer can set their own “agenda.” They can “engage” the user on “real estate” that they constantly look at up to 100 times a day. They can “notify” the user several different ways, all by using push notifications 2.0 – and by being on the lock screen, that notification can be really large and attract attention. This allows you to get advertising revenue outside of your application, on your terms. You can optionally reward the users with virtual goods for enabling your app on their lock screen. Advertisers get the biggest bang for their buck on the most valuable screen on a device. You can go here to sign up for their Beta version and put your application to work for you all day long.
