AllCast for Fire TV to support Video on your TV and Audio from Your Phone

Koush’s AllCast for Fire TV received app is still in development and is about to get a pretty nice update, soon. For those that don’t know, AllCast allows you to stream content from your smartphone or tablet to various devices. This includes Chromecast, Roku, Apple TV, Xbox, and a few others. However, we have a separate version of the AllCast app for the Fire TV. Because it only works with the Fire TV and obviously it’s only available on Amazon’s App Store since Google Play isn’t on the Fire TV.

In the video down below, Koush shows us how this new update for the AllCast for Fire TV will work. Basically you’ll be playing videos on your TV, and getting audio from your phone. Now some of you may be wondering why would someone want to do it. Well maybe you are watching something on TV while others are asleep in the house, you can play the audio through your phone and use headphones, so it’s still quiet. That is until you laugh at some joke. Koush also says that replicating this for the Chromecast is going to be difficult because advanced parsing audio/video is not supported on the device, however the Fire TV does.

Koushik Dutta’s AllCast for Fire TV is available now from the Amazon App Store, for those that already own a Fire TV. For those that don’t, you can pick one up from Amazon for $99, and the controller will set you back another $40. Which is worth it, in my opinion. Because of the specs on the Fire TV, gaming is pretty awesome. I wonder how big of a seller the Fire TV has been for Amazon? How many of our readers have already picked up an Amazon Fire TV?
