Android OTA: Device Updates & Firmware Report – May 30th Edition

HTC One (M8) Gets Stability Update in Europe

The HTC One (M8) is getting an update which focuses on stability and maintenance. This isn’t a huge update as it comes in at 66MB and brings the software version up to 1.54.401.10. The list of improvements sees adjustments made to the device’s radio as well as the camera and the weather app. Not much to see here folks, but nice to see an update regardless.

Galaxy Mega 6.3 Gets Android 4.4 KitKat

The Galaxy Mega 6.3 is getting an update to Android 4.4.2 KitKat at long last. So far, the update is rolling out in Russia through KIES and has a I9200XXUDNE4 build number. Much like KitKat updates for other Galaxy devices, this will bring full album art to your lockscreen, as well as a quick way to get to the camera on your device. he statusbar icons will be turned white and you should see some subtle improvements in performance. If the update has gone out in Russia, there’s a good chance that it’s also rolling out throughout greater Europe.

US Cellular Rolls Out KitKat Update to Galaxy S III

The International version of the Galaxy S III might not be getting updated to Android 4.4 KitKat due to RAM, but US Cellular is rolling out the update to Galaxy S III devices on their network. The update carries a build number of R530UVXCND4 and is obviously a sizable download. As you might have already guessed by now, this update is much like other Galaxy S updates to KitKat and doesn’t really change much on your device but adds some extra features like Hangouts for SMS and white statusbar icons. The update is available for download over WiFi, but users can also use KIES if they’d prefer to.

Soak Test Invites Being Sent Out for T-Mobile Moto X

Moto X users on T-Mobile might have been invited to test out a new software update recently. We’re not sure what the update contains, but we doubt it’d be anything too massive, so be on the look out for some sort of maintenance release in the near future.

Sprint Update the Galaxy Note II to KitKat

Samsung is on a roll this week with updates and their latest device to get KitKat happens to be on Sprint, with their Galaxy Note II getting software version L900VPUCNE2. If I haven’t said it enough this week, the KitKat update for the Galaxy Note II brings white statusbar icons, a camera icon to the lockscreen and of course, all of those under-the-hood improvements and such. Happy updating readers!
