Earlier this year ASUS announced their Chromebox which began shipping earlier this year – back in March actually – but they also had informed us that there would be a more powerful version of that Chromebox, which sports an Intel Core i3 processor inside. Well that Chromebox is now shipping from Amazon for $417. It features a Intel i3-4010U Processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 4GB of RAM, 16GB SSD storage. It also has 4 USB 3.0 ports, a HDMI port, Display port, and a Ethernet port on the back. There’s also a headphone/microphone combination jack on the back for those interested. The dimensions of the Chromebox are 4.88 x 1.65 x 4.88 inches. So it’s a pretty small box which could go on your desk or on the floor. It also has a SD card slot as well as the ability to lock it down, in case you’re buying these for a classroom or something like that. It’s a great little box for accessing Google Chrome. If you can’t do everything you need to do in Chrome, then this Chromebox isn’t for you.
ASUS also ships a mouse and keyboard with the Chromebox, but no monitor. You’ll have to find your own monitor to go with this bad boy. It’s available right now from Amazon for $417 plus $17 for shipping. Unfortunately, it’s not yet available with Amazon Prime shipping, although I believe that will change soon, as ASUS gets their stock up. It should also be shipping from Newegg, Best Buy and other retailers for about the same price. How many of you are planning on picking up the new ASUS Chromebox with the Intel Core i3 processor inside? Hopefully they don’t make this one obsolete at the Intel/Google event tomorrow.
