This morning, Box put out a pretty large update for their Android app. It brings a majorly overhauled design, and it’s about time they did that. And a bunch of other neat features in the app. This is version 3.0, and those interested in a changelog, well we’ve got that down below.
What’s new
An overhauled, polished UI. A new image gallery, with a lightning-fast document previewer (allows even historically difficult file types, like PowerPoint, to render perfectly). A fully native OneCloud app gallery (sign contracts, annotate reports, e-fax spreadsheets–right from Box; also, when you preview a file, easily see which apps are compatible with that file type). Two new languages (26 total). MobileIron Android App GA (for added security)
Once more, those with an LG device, whether that be a smartphone or tablet, you’ll be able to get about 50GB of free space on Box. Which is always a good thing. You can never have too much space, right? Now Box says this is for the G-Series devices, i.e. G Pad, G2, G Pro 2, etc., but in the past Nexus users were able to take advantage of the free 50GB promo, so you still might be able too now. Seeing as I don’t have a Nexus 4 or 5, I can’t really test that out for everyone. So for those with a Nexus 4 or Nexus 5, be sure to let us know if you are able to grab the free 50GB of space.
Box is saying that this is one of the biggest updates ever for the company, and I can definitely believe it, it looks amazing. For those of you that use Box in your cloud storage life, what do you think of the update? Be sure to let us know in the comments below as always.
