Google Play has always been accessible from the mobile web browsers on our Android devices but never with its own mobile interface. Now starting today we can finally surf the Google Play webstore from inside our browser of choice with a mobile layout that looks oh so good. No more having to pinch and zoom in or out. Of course you could just enter the Play Store app if all you’re wanting is to look for is games, apps, books or other digital content. If you’re looking for devices though or related accessories, you’ll have to open up your browser and navigate to play.google.com/store for that.
With some mobile webpage layouts the design is horrid and brings about a terrible experience. That is not at all the case with the mobile version of Google Play. The design is pleasing to the eye and easy to navigate around. All the sections are there just like you’d expect and things look and feel rather fluid. When you first open up the main page you have all the same stuff that is sitting there on the regular version of the website, and then for all the category tags you just have to hit the button near the top left corner of the page that looks like three horizontal lines, which opens up the panel from the left with your respective categories for specific content.
The panel even has your login credentials up at the top just like you would see in the Play Store app, and you can easily sign in or out from there as well with the little pencil icon next to your account photo. This should make it easy to do things like buy a new device or a new accessory when on the go, since things are much easier to browse now than before when you had to use the desktop web interface. The only thing we wish Google would do now is add the devices section to the actual Play Store app itself. That would make things so much easier in the end and then users wouldn’t even have to open up the browser at all to access that particular section. The mobile version of Google Play is live as of now as you can probably tell from the screenshots below. Is anyone excited about this?
