We’ve been seeing a lot of leaked screenshots on Google’s new design language, which has been named Moonshine. So far we’ve really only seen screenshots for Android apps. But now we’re taking a look at the Gmail on the web version and it looks a lot like the leaked Android app from a few weeks ago. Thanks to Geek.com, we’ve got some nice screenshots to share. According to the screenshots, it looks like we’re keeping the big search bar at the top of the page, as well as adding in a fly-in menu on the left side, which would showcase all your labels, and such. You also have your groups like Promotions, Forums, Updates, Social and others. On the right-hand side, you see the Hangouts chat bubble at the top, which is likely another fly-in menu to jump into hangouts and talk to people. Sort of like what we have on the Google+ website now. There’s also a big red button at the bottom that’s for composing a new email, which is nice to have as well.
So it looks like we’re getting some pretty big changes coming to Gmail, both on the web and on Android. It’ll be interesting to see the final thing at Google I/O in about 6 weeks. It’s likely that Google will announce all these visual changes at Google I/O which is in the end of June, so it’ll be exciting to see it in action. But I’m definitely liking how it’s looking so far. I can’t wait to see what the new version of Gmail looks like in a couple of months. Are any of you in that same boat? I feel like it’s time that Gmail got a nice update, especially on the web.
