Googler Gives us Quick Look at Android Wear Notifications

Android Wear has been announced for some time now and a preview of the SDK is available for developers to try out and see what they come up with. The whole idea behind Android Wear is to help us deal with information we need right there in the moment and as such a lot of the main use case for Android Wear revolves around notifications. To that end, a Googler has shown us some of the most common notifications and how they might look on an Android Wear device.

Recently, the Android Developers YouTube channel uploaded a small video on Android Wear and page notifications, it was a short and sweet video but more recently, Google Timothy Jordan took to the Android Developers Google+ page to show off some of their favorite Android Wear notifications. There are 7 images (which you can see in the gallery below) that show off notifications like calendar reminders, a notification from a game and one from Nest warning you that your house is about to go down in flames. Jordan goes on to say that you don’t need to make any adjustments to your app in order for notifications to work with Android Wear, which we’re sure has something to do with new APIs introduced in Android 4.3, but nevertheless it’s nice to know that all notifications will work on the watch.

The Music notification seems to be particularly helpful on the watch and has large, easy to hit buttons and the text seems more than readable to us. Of course, we have a little while longer to wait and see just what these watches and Android Wear as a platform is like to use everyday, but we’re sure Google is working hard to make sure they have a solid product to launch. We’re more than likely going to be seeing a lot more on Android Wear during Google I/O this summer, but for the mean time take a look at the gallery below.
