Recently, rumors surrounding the upcoming Galaxy S5 Prime have been heating up, with possible leaked images and more specs than you can shake a stick at. While it seems pretty likely that Samsung is to introduce a more powerful version of the Galaxy S5, to compete with the G3, and to perhaps compensate for the underwhelming Snapdragon 801 that doesn’t offer much more than the 800 found in the Galaxy Note 3. No matter the reasoning behind this “Prime” version of the Galaxy S5, it looks like this more advanced version of the Galaxy S5 is inching its way to release. Another interesting piece of the puzzle has surfaced today thanks to the Bluetooth SIG.
For a smartphone to launch into the world, it needs to be certified by a number of bodies to make sure the radios and such are all working as they should. A lot of the time, we see this with the FCC here in the States, and similar agencies all over the world. The Bluetooth SIG is another link in the long chain of certification smartphones have to go through and just today, a Samsung phone with the model number of SM-G906L has appeared in the Bluetooth SIG. Astute readers will remember the SM-G906 as the model number most talked about surrounding the Galaxy S5 Prime, with the last letter being a region specific suffix.
The Prime is pegged to launch with a QHD display at 2560 x 1440, with either a Snapdragon 805 or the latest Samsung Exynos under the hood. Right now though, the Prime is still something of a mystery, but as this latest piece of evidence suggests, Samsung is certainly working on something and that something might just be the version of the Galaxy S5 that a lot of people have been waiting, complete with the most dense display to ever appear on a Samsung smartphone.
