On Tuesday, HTC announced their Q1 earnings and also stated that Q2 should bring them back into profitability. Which is great news for HTC, as they haven’t made a profit in quite some time, and that really needs to change. On Wednesday, HTC’s current CFO, Chialin Chang, announced that he is going to be focusing on global sales, and the company is looking for a new Chief Financial Officer. This new executive will sit on Mr. Chang’s chair and take care of HTC’s Financial matters. Chang did reveal that it’s not uncommon for an executive to do both roles at the same time, which he is actually been doing since December of last year. Although the most common reason why Chang is moving to focusing on sales is due to HTC’s struggle as of late. HTC’s been struggling with sales for a few years now and have been trying to make a comeback, but as most of us know this won’t happen overnight. But having Chang move to Global Sales, may help out HTC a bit.
Chang also stated that the company is searching both internally and externally for a replacement for Chang. However, Chang will only step down from CFO when HTC finds a replacement CFO for the company. So for now, there’s really no changes at HTC aside from those that left in the past few weeks. As HTC still has their Chief Financial Officer, even though they are looking for a new one pretty soon.
It’ll be interesting to see who HTC hires as their new CFO, and how this will affect their day-to-day business. Although I wouldn’t expect much change right away, it’ll take a little bit for the new executive to get settled into this role. How many of you think that a new CFO and having Chang focus on sales will help HTC out?
