Ever since the HTC One (M8) launched a little while ago, we’ve been hearing rumors of upcoming variants of the device to offer different features in the same vane of the HTC One. While the HTC One Prime seems something that’s more speculation than anything else, a miniature version of the M8 is pretty much a given. Not just because they release an HTC One Mini last year, but also because the mid-range and low-end market is starting to heat up, with Motorola launching the Moto E earlier today that’s once again excellent value for money.
Recently, we heard that the smaller brother to the M8 is to be called the One Mini 2 and we even got a look at what are possibly press shots for when it launches. The duo camera isn’t making the jump to the One Mini 2, but the BoomSound speakers appear to be coming along for the ride once more and the rest of the device is goign to be built out of the same materials and design that makes the M8 such a good-looking device. Now, the device has been spotted in the Taiwanese equivalent of the FCC, the he National Communications Commission.
The device has been approved by the Taiwanese officials since May 5th and rumored specs are still circling around a Snapdragon 400, 1GB of RAM and a 720p display like last year’s model. 4G LTE is coming to this smaller version of the HTC One, and could be heading to shelves all over the world over the next over the next couple of months. This smaller version of the M8 will be going up against other mid-range offerings and will need to priced accordingly. We spoke about Motorola earlier, and their pricing of devices like the Moto E and Moto G are making it difficult to effectively price a mid-range device so, HTC have their work cut out for them with the One Mini 2.
