Whether you love or hate HTC’s new flagship this year, the phone has a slickness about it that is quite hard to beat. Some people are in love with the refined new design of the HTC One M8 that isn’t really new at all, but more of a touch up and polish. Others like the design but are more interested in some of the new features like the updated Sense UI and Blinkfeed design, while some really love the Duo Camera and it’s ability to take photos with a shallow depth of field effect. Although not everyone is fond of the Duo Camera, there are some that really enjoy it. Thankfully, for those that have been holding out for HTC to release a mini version of the M8, if you didn’t like the results that the Duo Camera produced you may end up getting something better in the HTC One M8 mini.
According to our source, the HTC One M8 mini will not come with the Duo Camera that is built into the M8, but will instead come with a single stand alone camera that sports a 13MP sensor. If this turns out to be true there are immediately a few great unanswered questions. Will it have the ability to take shallow depth of field photos like the M8? Possibly, and if not because of the feature being built into the HTC camera app itself, users could always download the Google Camera which now has the same effect. Second, how will the original image mode pictures compare to those taken with the M8? Will they be better or worse?
The information comes from HTC themselves apparently, who have reportedly put out a press release confirming the rumors about the single camera design and the 13MP sensor inside. They have also released the press render image that you see below that shows of the back and front of the phone, also displaying the devices single camera setup. If HTC has indeed put out this information and that looks to be the case, they have only divulged the matter of the camera and the image leak. No specs have been listed at this time, but we’re sure those won’t be too far behind.
