HTC’s One Mini 2 is finally official and as we covered in our announcement post, this year’s One Mini is a little different from last year’s, and features more differences with its bigger brother. Just what is on the inside the One Mini 2 you might ask? Well, let’s take a closer look.
Running the show is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 quad-core CPU, backed up with 1GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 400 was used in last year’s HTC One Mini and while the Cortex-A7 core design isn’t great for overall performance, it’s a decent enough CPU for everyday use. The 1GB of RAM is a decent amount and the 16GB of internal storage can be topped up using microSD cards up to 128GB in size, which should give even the most avide music listener enough room for their music.
As for the display, the HTC One Mini 2 has a 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 display which is enclosed by two BoomSound stereo speakers. The 4.5-inch display makes for a device that measures 137.43 x 65.04 x 10.6mm and comes in at 137g. The One Mini 2 features a 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with GLONASS, DLNA as well as a digital compass. As for frequencies it supports GSM bands 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz, WCDMA bands for 3G 50, 900, 1900 and 2100 MHz and will support HSPA+ up to 42mbps down. 4G LTE is supported across bands 1, 3, 7, 8, 20 and 28.
Unlike the One Mini and the One (M8), there’s no UltraPixel camera or a DuoCamera here, and instead their is a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera around the back and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Both are BSI sensors and both support 1080p video recording.
Running Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Sense 6, the One Mini 2 is powered by a 2,100 mAh battery which HTC says is good for 16 hours of talktime over 3G networks and 556 hours of standby time over 3G networks.
