Today, Niantic Labs is introducing us to a brand new update to Ingress. That’s the augmented reality game that’s been around for almost two years now. For a long time, well since it was in beta, there were only 8 levels. So that once you hit level 8 there wasn’t much for you to do. But now they’ve changed that. There are now 16 levels. So you better get going and hit level 16 soon folks. But that’s not all they’ve added in this update. There are also capsules for better collaboration. Capsules are here to make it easier to share things with other agents. Which is something we do a lot, but simply just drop things then wait for another agent to pick them up, and they may or may not be on the same faction as you. Which if you’re giving the enemy weapons, it’s not that smart of a thing to do.
Niantic Labs have also made Ultra Strike Weapons available to all. For a while they were only available to the DROID family of devices, since they gave out invites to the game using the DROID Ultra, DROID Maxx and DROID Mini. The update should be available in Google Play right now, so those that are playing Ingress can run and grab it right now.
While it’s great to see more levels added – which mean we can recharge portals further away as well as more XM storage – I would have liked to see it hit a nice round number. Say 15 or 20 levels? Either way, I’m sure this is going to make hardcore Ingress players much happier, as now they can go and level up some more, and get even more powerful weapons. And I thought Level 7 XMP’s were powerful. How many of you are still actively playing Ingress? Let us know in the comments down below.
